DIBONAVENTURE'S BAKERY
Lewes, DE

Alejandra began baking in her family's wood-fire bakery when she was 16 years old. She learned the skills necessary from her mother Maria Elsy to produce “Pan de Queso”. Her family's bakery distributes 2000 per day throughout Manizales, Colombia. Jason graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1993. After his internship in Bern, Switzerland, he traveled the world learning about the cuisines of many different countries. When he returned home he baked in Seattle at the Alki Bakery, and in Portland at the Grand Central Bakery. He started his own bakery in 1996, in Rehoboth Beach, DE. In 2000, he relocated the bakery to Lewes, DE, in order to build two masonry wood-fired ovens, the only ones in the state. Alejandra and Jason work together daily producing some of the finest from scratch baked goods in DE. DiBonaventure's has been recognized by The News Journal, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Delaware Today, Delaware Business Ledger and Cape Gazette as the most outstanding in the resort beach area. DiBonaventure Bakery can be found at the Annapolis and Health and Human Services FRESHFARM Markets. Visit DiBonaventure's Bakery at 16923 Kings Highway, or call 302-644-9335 for special orders.
