BUSTER'S SEAFOOD
Middlesex County, VA
With more than 54 years in the seafood-harvesting business and National Seafood HACCP certification, Jimmy and Paige Hogge know their seafood and shellfish. As a waterman, Jimmy brings only the freshest harvested and net-caught fish, seafood and shellfish to the Dupont Circle FRESHFARM Market on Sundays. Jimmy has been a commercial fisherman since he was 13 years old. His Chesapeake Bay Deadrise boat (a boat unique to the Chesapeake Bay region) is called the Lot Hog. He fishes the York, Rappahannock, James Rivers and sometimes Mobjack Bay and the Chesapeake Bay. Jimmy sheds Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs in the backyard, during the months of May through September, in large holding tanks, so you know they are fresh. The new Buster's Crab Picking House was started in 2008 and picks a limited amount of some the finest crabmeat around. Buster's also participates in the Williamsburg Farmer's Market on Saturdays and sells their products to area restaurants in Shacklefords, VA. Jimmy and Paige hail from Urbanna, VA, a small seaport town slightly off the weathered path that was established in 1680 as a seaport. The port was used to ship tobacco to England. So when you visit Urbanna, the 'City of Anne,' you're coming to one of the oldest towns in America. Fair Winds.
Visit Buster on Sundays at Dupont Circle and on Thursdays at our By the White House market.
