CIBOLA FARMS
Culpeper County, VA

Cibola Farms and Cibollero Meats are both dedicated to providing wholesome foods from animals and plants that have been raised using sustainable and ecological agricultural practices where animal welfare is given a very high priority. When the Spanish explorers landed in the American Southeast in the 1400s, they called the buffalo 'Cibola.' Many of the first settlers survived thanks to the 'Cibollero' or buffalo hunter. Cibola Farms is located near Culpeper, VA, where buffalo, goats, rabbits and pigs are raised on pasture. Cibola Farms' meats are free of growth stimulants, steroids, growth hormones and antibiotics. No chemical or animal biproduct is fed to produce these 100-percent natural meats. The pastured livestock is rotated daily in order to allow the land to regenerate and to provide a healthy and natural grazing environment. Learning from the Native Americans, Cibola Farms tries not to waste any part of nature's harvest and has an emerging line of products such as hides, furs, soaps and candles. To learn more about the animals and farming practices used, visit www.cibolafarms.com, or stop by the farm from April through October for a self-guided walking tour. You can find Cibola's products at our Penn Quarter and Dupont Circle FRESHFARM Markets.
